Having spent his formative working years practising in Germany before returning to South Africa, Hugo’s work has been shaped by design refinement, technical discipline and a sensitivity to context. Over the course of his career, he has led and contributed to projects spanning residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, retail and housing developments, providing a breadth of experience that enables thoughtful responses to diverse briefs and complex project requirements.

During his time in Germany, Hugo worked on several housing developments and renovations in and around Augsburg, Königsbrunn and Diedorf. He was also part of the team that won several competitions for housing developments, school extensions and church office renovations.

Hugo’s involvement on commercial projects include various office buildings at Irene Corporate Corner, and a 14 000m² commercial component of a larger prominent mixed-use development in Cape Town. He also completed the new entertainment centre at Modjadji House, Mabula Lodge.

His healthcare experience ranges from premium birthing centre designs in Gaborone to mining hospitals in Jwaneng, and full-scale hospital designs in Kanye, Accra and Lusaka. Locally, in 2026 a 10-bed ICU at Mediclinic Gariep and the installation of a redesigned facade at Mediclinic Muelmed were completed.
